The core functions of the department are to ensure sustainable Forest Resources and Ecosystem Management, Forest-based Industries and Non-Wood Forest Products Development, to conduct Research and Extension Services, Forestry Training and Capacity Building, Issuance of Forest Licences and Revenue Generation, Export of Forest products and ensure gender considerations in the sustainable management of Forest Resources.
